  • LOCATION: Bhadravati, Karnataka, India
  • SCHOOL ESTABLISHED IN: 1989
  • NO. OF STUDENTS: 300+
  • GRADES: Pre-school – 7
  • TOTAL COST OF PROJECT: USD 10,000
  • OSAAT CONTRIBUTION: Completion of the construction of 8 classrooms with all amenities, furniture, and electrical connections

The school serves 300+ students in pre-school through Grade 7. The kids come from families of day-laborers from rural areas around Bommanakatte, Bhadravati, Karnataka. The school was established in 1989 and has managed to stay alive despite lack of any help from the Government, although it is serving a critical need of the community.

The school had managed to construct a very badly needed new building, drinking water facilities and toilets. Due to the rising cost of construction, the school was unable to finish the last leg of the construction in terms of plastering of the interior and exterior of the building, installation of doors and window shutters.

All the construction work that had stopped due to shortage of funds were completed. The school has 8 newly built classrooms that have been fully furnished.

The Domino Effect

The local community and Rotary Club, Bhadravati, had been aggressively pursuing the rebuilding efforts and construction had started. With OSAAT providing additional funds, the construction was completed. The local community and the Rotary Club, Bhadravati, have continued their support to this school.
