Excerpts From RFP & Site Visit |
Tungabhadra GHPS caters to the needs of about 225 students, who mostly come from very poor families. Medium of instruction in the school is Kannada and these students are taught by 6 full-time teachers and 2 additional contracting teachers. In the year 2009 the whole village got submerged in the floods and the school building got damaged. All the rooms in the original school building are in a very bad condition and two of those rooms have been declared as unsafe by the Deputy Director of Public Instruction during the school inspection. Yet, classes go on in 3 rooms that are not yet fallen down. | Out of these 3 rooms, classes 1-3 are held in one small room, while classes 4-6 are held in other 2 rooms. Additional “classrooms” are dispersed in nearby areas. While one of the primary grade classes is held in the close-by temple premises, the 8th grade classes are held in the Anganawadi building, which is little far away from the main school structure. |
