Government DVG Higher Primary School
School Location: Mulbagal town, Kolar district, Karnataka
No. of Students: 300+
Grades: Classes 1 to 7
Requirements: The Government DVG Higher Primary Boys School is a 100+ year old school, started in DVG's ancestral house. DVG (D V Gundappa) is a famous Kannada poet and writer – famous for his work - “Manku Thimmana Kagga” ("Dull Thimma's Rigmarole"). Over the time, the school was extended with multiple buildings next to the old house. Also, Government DVG Girls School was set up in the next site around 30 year ago.
At present, the ancestral house, other buildings in the Boys' school as well as the Girls' school are in poor condition. Government is ready to demolish all structures and combine both schools, so that a new school building can be constructed at the same location.
OSAAT Proposal: OSAAT proposes to build a 3 storied structure with a stilt floor, that will have 9 classrooms, an office room, a staff room, girls' and boys' toilet blocks, kitchen, activity areas and a assembly space. The new building will have a traditional look and will also have a "DVG memorial hall" to preserve and cherish the memory of DVG.
Estimated cost: INR 2 crores (USD 275K).
Funding: OSAAT is looking for donors for this project.
Status: Now in the planning phase.
